Just the three of us
We are in between guests this week! Matthew is gone, Emily and Dan have gone for a little road trip that includes Vegas, and Baba Jiji will come next week!
We check out Santa Claus in downtown Martinez (we waited a whole minute in line!), collected our neighbors leaves for our compost pile (first a little playtime though), and checked out our neighbors lights. And nobody puts Terran into a box. Except when it's himself and he refuses to get out.

Martinez Holiday Frolic!
It suddenly gets very cold (below freezing!), the kids spend lots of time with Emily and Dan, Martinez has a Holiday Frolic! Which means that the kids can slide down a snow slide!

It's cold enough to wear a sweater in the morning!
Breaking out the sweaters and robes; crafts from Baba and Jiji; we drop off Thomas at school, stop by the park to eat the second part of breakfast, then drop Sophia off at her preschool three days a week; playtime while Terran sleeps

Hot days are getting cooler
We enjoy a snack on the deck before Matthew leaves for his trip. A package from Baba and Jiji arrives! Sophia starts week two of preschool, and Thomas starts week three of kindergarten. We take some walks, and Thomas and Sophia greet me as I come back from some me-time.

Labor day weekend
There is an "unsupervised scissors incident" so mommy had to cut off the kids' hair; enjoying treats from mommy's youth out on the deck; going to Tilden Park with friends to enjoy Lake Anza, the merry-go-round, and the little steam train!

Back to regular life
We said goodbye to Matthew's sister Joanna and her daughter Katie. They had a safe trip back to New Zealand, thank goodness. We miss them terribly! To try to cheer ourselves up, we walked over to the neighborhood pancake joint and went to a nearby Japanese summer Obon festival. Also we made a trip to the local park with Sophia's new training wheels attached to her newish bike. She did great!
